My friends at iStore South Africa gave me the iPhone 18 Pro 256GB in Silver to share my thoughts and explore how it fits into my life. Well, one thing is for sure: it has certainly made my life easier, but I’ve got a few smaller-nyana issues to address.

Firstly, the battery

As a content producer, I’m always scrolling through social media, looking for content, and spending hours reading and researching topics. Although much of this would typically happen on my PC, this past week I found myself working more on my phone. And the battery did not give up on me. 100 points to Apple!

A full charge lasted the whole day, and even with multiple tabs open, the phone’s performance didn’t slow down.

Camera and new editing tools

You need to watch the videos I’ve been sharing on TJR’s pages!

The iPhone 18 Pro’s Cinematic mode reaches 4K Dolby Vision at 60fps. This feature adds a shallow depth of field to your videos, meaning your main subject is sharp and clear while the background is softly blurred—just like a Hollywood movie. It also uses “rack focus” to automatically shift focus if a new person enters the frame or if your subject looks away.

This is what every content creator needs for quality content.

But my favourites are the new editing tools. These include Extend, which uses Apple Intelligence to expand the edges of a photo and generate realistic background details, and Clean Up, which removes unwanted objects from your pictures.

Obviously, this isn’t a new innovation. The difference here is that you don’t need an external app. It’s all in the Photos app.

However, it also seems that the Reframe tool, at least on my iPhone 18 Pro, doesn’t seem to work.

Screen functionality and size

Contrary to popular opinion, size does matter. The iPhone 18 Pro’s screen measures 6.3 inches — just the right size! Images and videos look so much better when scrolling through social media. I love this!

The screen functionality was a bit annoying because I honestly found it too sensitive. A touch is a move! The edges of the screen are highly sensitive, and I found myself butt-dialling people.

The past seven days have been incredible using this device, and I can’t wait to share my overall experience soon!
