As South Africa prepares to welcome the return of one of world sport’s most iconic contests—the Springboks versus All Blacks—two Black women-led businesses are ensuring that The Greatest Rivalry creates opportunities that extend far beyond the rugby field.

Unorthodox Group, a 100% Black-, female- and youth-owned Pan-African sports growth advisory firm, has partnered with Coral Communications, the award-winning Black female-owned communications agency founded by Tendai Rukwava, to curate an exclusive series of premium corporate experiences featuring rugby legend Dan Carter, who will visit South Africa from 20–25 August 2026.

The collaboration represents far more than bringing one of rugby’s greatest players to South Africa.

It marks the beginning of a long-term vision to transform major sporting moments into platforms that drive business growth, leadership development, commercial partnerships, executive engagement and meaningful social impact across Africa.

Launching during Women’s Month, the initiative celebrates the growing influence of women in shaping South Africa’s sports economy while demonstrating what is possible when women-led businesses collaborate to create opportunities that transcend their own organisations.

Beyond the Greatest Rivalry For more than a century, the rivalry between the Springboks and the All Blacks has captivated audiences across the globe.

It is a contest built on history, excellence, resilience and mutual respect—one that attracts international attention, drives tourism, fills stadiums and brings together business leaders, investors and decision-makers.

Yet, too often, the opportunities surrounding such moments begin and end with the final whistle. Unorthodox Group and Coral Communications believe the true value of global sport lies not only in the match itself, but in its ability to create conversations, partnerships and relationships that continue long after the game has been played.

The partnership has therefore developed a curated portfolio of exclusive experiences that enable organisations to leverage one of rugby’s greatest occasions as a catalyst for leadership, client engagement and commercial growth.

Turning Sporting Moments into Business Opportunities Drawing on Unorthodox Group’s philosophy that sport is a strategic business asset—not simply a sponsorship opportunity—the programme has been designed to help corporates build stronger relationships with clients, engage key stakeholders and create memorable experiences around one of the world’s most celebrated sporting occasions.

Throughout his South African visit, Dan Carter will headline a carefully curated programme of premium engagements, including executive leadership conversations, keynote appearances, private meet-and-greets, exclusive corporate hospitality, premium match-day experiences, corporate golf partnerships and youth rugby clinics.

These experiences provide organisations with unique opportunities to reward valued clients, strengthen strategic relationships, inspire employees and create authentic brand stories aligned with excellence, leadership and high performance.

Women Creating Opportunity Together The launch during Women’s Month is both deliberate and symbolic. While rugby has traditionally been perceived as one of South Africa’s most male-dominated sporting environments, the collaboration between Unorthodox Group and Coral Communications reflects a changing landscape—one where women are increasingly shaping the commercial future of sport. Rather than competing, the two businesses have chosen collaboration.

Together they have demonstrated that Black women-owned businesses can conceptualise, negotiate and deliver internationally relevant sporting experiences that create value for global sporting icons, corporate South Africa and local communities alike.

Their partnership is built on the belief that meaningful progress is achieved when women champion one another’s ambitions, combine complementary expertise and create platforms that generate opportunities for others.

“The Greatest Rivalry has always represented excellence on the field. Our ambition is to ensure it also becomes a catalyst for excellence in business. We believe Africa should not simply host the world’s greatest sporting moments—we should create greater value from them. This collaboration is the first step towards building a platform that connects global sporting excellence with African business, leadership and opportunity.”

Sibabalwe Sesmani, Founder and Group CEO of Unorthodox Group, says the initiative reflects the company’s evolution into a Pan-African sports growth advisory firm that helps organisations solve business challenges through sport.

“Every major sporting event creates economic activity, but very few maximise the leadership, commercial and partnership opportunities that surround it. Our role is to unlock that value by designing experiences that create measurable outcomes for businesses while contributing to the growth of Africa’s sports economy.”

For Tendai Rukwava, Founder of Coral Communications, the partnership is equally a celebration of collaboration.

“Women’s Month reminds us that representation matters, but collaboration creates lasting impact. This initiative demonstrates what can happen when women-led businesses combine their strengths to deliver work that competes on a global stage. We hope it inspires more partnerships that place African businesses at the centre of international opportunities.”

The Beginning of Something Bigger While Dan Carter’s visit is the inaugural edition of this exclusive programme, both organisations have confirmed that it represents the beginning of a broader vision to use iconic sporting moments as catalysts for business growth, leadership exchange and international collaboration.

Future editions will continue to bring globally respected sporting leaders to Africa while creating opportunities for businesses, governments, investors and communities to engage around sport in ways that generate measurable commercial, social and economic impact.

Corporate organisations interested in participating in the Dan Carter experiences are encouraged to register their interest early, as opportunities have been intentionally limited to preserve exclusivity and maximise value for participating partners.
