From the moment he begins narrating a video, viewers are immersed in the experience. Seeing, hearing, and feeling every detail of the journey.

His storytelling is deliberate, his visuals are cinematic, and his ability to transform luxury motoring into compelling entertainment has made him one of South Africa’s most respected automotive content creators. Whether he’s behind the wheel of a supercar or reviewing a luxury sedan, Tebogo Moropa consistently delivers content that feels refined, aspirational, and world-class.

I had the pleasure of shooting a few questions to Tebogo, and he was kind enough to share insights into his journey as a creator, his passion for performance cars, and the work that goes into producing some of South Africa’s most compelling automotive content.

Congratulations on your new BMW M4 Competition. Out of all the performance cars you’ve driven and reviewed, what made this the one you decided to buy for yourself?

It really boiled down to emotional attachment hey? The F82 M4 Competition came out when I was still in high school, this fire has been slowly burning and as I grew so did it. Beyond the emotional desire, it’s a fantastic driver’s car. It’s the last of the analog BMWs, and in my opinion the finest example of BMW’s M cars. I plan on keeping it forever.

You’ve had the opportunity to drive everything from supercars to high-performance sports cars. What separates a great performance car from a truly unforgettable one?

The most unforgettable driving experiences come from cars that deliver connectedness and feeling, not just speed. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio comes to mind, an imperfect car with a unique character in the way it drives. The most unforgettable cars are the ones whose mannerisms you must first learn before you can extract maximum performance. In learning the car, you know it better, and the better you know the car, the more rewarding the drive feels.

Your content often takes you to destinations around the world, from vehicle launches in China to international driving experiences. What’s been the most memorable trip of your career so far?

Each of these trips are equally special in my heart; they’re all unique in the experience they offered and ranking them would be an injustice to all the others. The novelty of visiting Stuttgart with Mercedes-Benz is just as memorable as being on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere with Jeep this Easter. Most recently, I went to Lesotho with Volkswagen South Africa and got to see snow on my birthday, which was special.

Many people see the luxury side of automotive content, but what does the audience not see behind the scenes of those sponsored trips and international launches?

The sheer amount of hard work that goes into delivering a 90-second video is unfathomable from the outside.

Social media is a digital highway of information, and we’re all fighting for attention. Finding the right angles, the right story to tell at the right place and time are just a fraction of the things one considers before even shooting.

I put a lot of effort into my videos, and to be honest, I’m lucky to have an audience engaged enough to invest back into the content.

Can you tell us about your career as a software engineer and what your day-to-day work involves?

It’s terribly boring, but the long and short of it is that I’m a backend software engineer. My primary stack is Java Spring Boot, and I build application programming interfaces for enterprise applications in the financial sector. My work involves more meetings than I’d like, lots of strategy sessions, and very little coding.

Has there ever been a car that completely exceeded your expectations after you got behind the wheel?

My F82 BMW M4 Competition. I cried.

The Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance is probably the most spine-chilling car I’ve ever driven. 600kW is enough to churn the stomach when you accelerate — an unbelievable performance car.

Your content has a premium, aspirational feel. Was that always the vision, or did it evolve naturally as your career grew?

It certainly wasn’t a longstanding vision. Cars inspire me, and I think that inspiration translates through the camera and, in turn, invokes something in my audience too.

I try to be as authentic as possible in my experiences with these cars, not overthinking and not being overly critical. The premium feel comes from my desire to deliver quality in everything I do. I suppose it’s a healthy blend of passion and the desire to deliver excellence.

How do you balance a demanding creator lifestyle, frequent travel, and family life?

I’m still trying to figure this out. The truth is you can’t be your best in all aspects of your life when you’re spread this thin. The trick is managing the compromise and communicating it with everyone it affects.

Have you ever been rejected by a brand you always wanted to work with? And how did you deal with it?

Luckily not. But I don’t see rejection as the enemy we’ve been taught to believe it is. What should happen will, and what shouldn’t happen simply won’t.

Whether he’s sharing a once-in-a-lifetime driving experience or fulfilling a childhood dream with his own BMW M4 Competition, Tebogo continues to raise the standard for automotive content creation in South Africa and beyond!
