You might have timeously heard the word ‘seta’ or ‘seta boards’ over the past couple of months due to some controversy we won’t get into today.
One of those setas play a very important role in our country, and that is the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA).
It is one of 21 Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) established to promote skills development in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998 (as amended).
The 21 SETAs broadly reflect different sectors of the South African economy.
MerSETA encompasses manufacturing, engineering and related services, while ensuring there is continuous training in these fields.
Well, we caught up with the chief financial officer Mrs. Disa Mpande at the Standard Bank Top Women Conference 2025, and she spoke to us about the work of merSETA.
